With over 45 years of experience in wooden boat building, maintenance, and repair, I bring a lifetime of passion and expertise to every project.
My expertise covers all aspects of wooden boat construction, from traditional stern tube and rudder gland setups to multi-skin construction methods. Beyond hands-on work, I have a deep interest in boat design and construction techniques throughout history, from dugout canoes to modern wooden yachts. I also collect books on boatbuilding and maintain a fully equipped workshop, including specialized woodworking machinery that allows me to craft and restore intricate timber components.
This type of craftsmanship is becoming rare as modern boats are primarily built from plywood and composites. However, I remain committed to preserving traditional wooden boatbuilding skills, ensuring these timeless techniques continue to serve boat owners who value quality, authenticity, and expert craftsmanship.

General Boat Building
Modifications, additions and alterations, such as boarding platforms, bait tanks, fish boxes, and new engine installation requirements.
Other Specialist Work
We are sometimes called upon to carry out unusual repairs and/or create new. Examples: new tillers, building a custom wooden gate, new timber boarding ladders and hand rails.
Teak Work
This work can include decks, platforms, cap rails and trim.
We can either repair or replace depending on the requirements.
Wooden Boat Repairs
This encompasses repairs such as accident damage, rot, and maintenance requirements such as caulking and sheathing also leaking hatches and windows.
Specialist Boat Building
Examples are transducer installations, bowthruster installations, hatch replacements, new window frames.
Insurance Inspections
We carry out full insurance inspections as required by companies such as Vero and NZI. They have a set of criteria that we adhere to and we advise you how to achieve any necessary deficiencies.

I am trade-qualified with an Advanced Trade Certificate in Wooden Boat and Ship Building, along with a Trade Certificate in Diesel Mechanics. My background includes owning and operating H&M Pascoe Boat Building Repairs and Maintenance, where I specialized in restoring and maintaining traditional and modern wooden vessels.

Do you do mechanical repairs, engineering or electrical work?
No but we can give you contact details of people that do. We believe in staying with our core business of boat repairs, boat building & maintenance. Although Mitch is also a qualified diesel mechanic & has had experience in this trade in the marine industry, we’re a small town and we don’t believe in poaching other contractors’ core business.
Can you sell me anodes?
Yes, we pride ourselves on stocking a very comprehensive range of all anodes except for IPS drive.
Do you carry out pre-purchase inspections?
No we don’t as there is not enough work to justify the huge professional indemnity insurance.
Do you undertake inspections as required by insurance companies?
